FallingTree changes how trees are chopped in Minecraft. Instead of breaking every log one by one, the player cuts a single block and the rest of the tree comes down with it. It saves time when gathering wood and removes floating tree tops from the landscape.
Cut Down Whole Trees with One Log
Break a log with an axe and the mod detects the connected tree. All logs are then broken and dropped as items. Tall birch, large dark oak, and modded trees can be cleared in a few seconds.
Leaves can be broken together with the logs, so saplings and apples drop right away. Tool durability is used for each log in the tree, which keeps the feature balanced in Survival. An option can also stop the axe before it breaks.
Four Cutting Modes
The breaking style can be selected in the configuration:
- Instantaneous breaks the whole tree at once.
- Shift down keeps the tree standing and lowers it by one block with every cut. This feels closer to vanilla gameplay.
- Fall items drops the logs with a falling animation.
- Fall blocks makes the tree fall to the ground as blocks.
Flexible Configuration
The list of logs, leaves, and allowed tools can be edited, so the mod works with trees and axes added by other mods. Sneaking can turn the effect off for a single cut. This is useful when only one log needs to be removed from a build. Cutting speed can also change with the size of the tree.
On a dedicated server, FallingTree can run on the server side only. Players can join without installing it, unless the speed or enchantment features are used. Since Minecraft 1.21, tree-cutting enchantments are provided by a separate datapack.
Requirements
Fabric players need Fabric API. On Forge and NeoForge, Cloth Config API is optional and adds an in-game settings screen. Each file supports several loaders, so the same JAR works with Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge for the listed version.
