VeinMiner lets a player break one block of an ore vein and mine every connected block of the same type at once. Coal, iron, diamonds, and other ores no longer have to be dug out one by one, which makes caving and strip mining much faster in Survival.
Mine a Whole Vein with One Block
When a block from an enabled group is broken with the correct tool, the mod searches for touching blocks of the same kind and breaks them in a short chain. The drops appear where the blocks were, or they can be merged at the first block. By default, the mod is set up for ores and pickaxes. Logs, gravel, sand, or amethyst can be added with presets.
The chain stops at 100 blocks by default. Each extra block uses tool durability, and the correct tool is still required, so the vanilla balance stays mostly intact.
Server-Side Setup and Commands
VeinMiner runs on the server, so players can join a multiplayer world without installing anything. Everything is managed with the /veinminer command. Admins can choose which blocks count as one vein, create block groups that limit a group to certain tools (for example logs only with axes), and switch the feature on or off for the whole server.
The settings include a maximum chain size, a cooldown between uses, a delay between broken blocks, a search radius, and an option that makes players sneak before veinmining. Hunger cost and slower mining for large veins can also be enabled. On servers with permission plugins, access can be limited to selected players.
Two official addons are available. The Hotkey addon activates veinmining only while a key is held and shows a preview of the blocks that will break. The Enchantment addon limits the feature to enchanted tools.
