Xaero’s World Map adds a full-screen map that automatically records the terrain you explore. It works as a standalone mod, but pairing it with Xaero’s Minimap provides shared waypoints and more convenient navigation.
Explore and Manage Your Worlds
Press M to open the map, drag it with the mouse, and use the scroll wheel to zoom. The interface works in singleplayer, multiplayer, and Realms while keeping separate map data for different worlds and servers.
The map supports cave dimensions such as the Nether, adjustable terrain shading, a vanilla-style display, and footsteps showing your recent route. You can also export the explored map as a PNG image, although extremely large worlds may take longer to process.
Waypoints and Server Features
When Xaero’s Minimap is installed, its waypoints appear directly on the world map. You can view, filter, create, and edit them without closing the interface. Teleportation is also available when the player has permission to use the required command.
The mod is mainly client-side. Server installation is optional, but it enables more reliable world identification and gives administrators control over available map features. The developer advises against using XaeroPlus alongside this mod because it may cause serious bugs or crashes.

- Download the file matching your Minecraft version and mod loader.
- Place the downloaded JAR file in the mods folder.
- Launch Minecraft and press M to open the world map.
- Optionally install Xaero’s Minimap for waypoint integration.
