The Aether adds a separate dimension made of floating islands, clouds, dungeons, and new creatures. It has its own survival progression, materials, equipment, bosses, and utility blocks.
How to Start and What to Explore
Build a portal in the same shape as a Nether portal, but use Glowstone for the frame. Pour a water bucket inside to activate it, then step through. Falling from an island does not send you into the void; you return to the Overworld instead.
Begin by collecting Skyroot wood and mining Holystone. Progress then moves through Zanite and Gravitite, with each material providing new tools, weapons, and armor. The Book of Lore identifies blocks and items, while the Altar, Freezer, and Incubator are used for equipment, materials, and raising creatures.
The dimension contains familiar animals alongside hostile flying mobs and completely new species. Moas can be raised from eggs and used as mounts. Different Moa types provide a different number of mid-air jumps, making travel between islands safer.
Three dungeon tiers provide the main challenges. Bronze Dungeons are hidden inside islands and lead to the Slider. Silver Dungeons appear as Valkyrie Temples, where you must defeat Valkyrie warriors before challenging their Queen. Rare Gold Dungeons contain the Sun Spirit and some of the strongest rewards.
Dungeon loot includes weapons, tools, shields, accessories, and items with special abilities. Accessories use their own equipment slots, allowing several bonuses to remain active without replacing normal armor.
The Aether remains in eternal daylight until the final dungeon is completed. After defeating the Sun Spirit, the Sun Altar allows the dimension’s time cycle to be controlled.
